Water Parameters

The key water parameters to monitor in an aquarium, and the values or ranges I try to keep to, are set out below

bullet

Salinity

bullet

35 ppt

bullet

Temperature

bullet

Summer - 27oC day / 26.5oC night

bullet

Winter - 26oC day / 25.5oC night

bullet

Hardness

bullet

7.8 - 9 dKH

bullet

Magnesium

bullet

1300 - 1400 mg/L

bullet

Calcium

bullet

400 - 450 mg/L

bullet

Nitrates

bullet

0

bullet

Phosphates

bullet

0

bullet

pH will tend to drift through the day and I would contend it is not a critical measure to monitor so long as you know your system is adequately buffered with a dKH of at least 7.
